Women and children do not experience the full rights to use the city or to participate in its social, cultural and political life because of safety threats that limit their ability to move around and their general wellbeing. Ensuring safety for women and children in cities and urban spaces is a priority for Australia, Korea and other nations and a key target of global initiatives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At a city scale, it is extremely challenging to assess the safety of public spaces as they include complex, interrelated issues. Smart technologies, including smartphone apps, machine learning and data analytics, can play a critical role in addressing this issue. This event brings together a diverse range of participants from different professional backgrounds and cultures to discuss challenges and opportunities for achieving more inclusive cities in a time of radical technologies.

The event involves a series of expert presentations followed by a lively panel discussion. Tickets are free but we ask all attending to RSVP and to make a $5 donation to women and children's rights organisation PLAN at the link:
