Sydney Experimental Arts Ensemble presents a profound and absurd contemporary dance work exploring the origins and development of life

A soloist is awoken from an immeasurable silence, tortured and tormented, squirming and worming, she anticipates some wondrous event. In a big BANG, space-time is born and the universe blossoms. It is Spring time in the cosmos and balls of fire cascade across the stage, eventually cooling to form celestial, heavenly bodies.

The Australian Centre for Astrobiology and Sydney Experimental Arts Ensemble collaborate to present a profound and absurd contemporary dance work exploring the origin and development of life on Earth.

Old Life/ Dead Life is a full length performance celebrating the diversity and abundance of life, where the dancers embody the unforgiving truths of life and death, commemorating the lineage of all of life. Drawing inspiration from the immense biological victories of the Cambrian explosion and the devastation of the End-Permian Mass Extinction, the show is an outstanding example of how science and art can co-influence each other.

Including an introduction and Q&A with performance director Eliza Cooper and ACA director Professor Martin Van Kranendonk, this outstanding collision of art and science is a must see for curious minds keen to explore where we've come from, why we're here and where we're going.

This is a FREE event, sponsored by the Australian Centre for Astrobiology.
